What will their ‘anxiety’ dreams be about?

I’m back in school and realize that there is one class (usually Math) that I haven’t been attending all semester.  I can’t even really remember when it is, or where.   But I’m sure there’s a final coming up and I haven’t a clue what it’s about.  I’m going to fail and not graduate!   To make matters worse, I can’t find my locker or remember the combination.   The more I try to work it out, the more frantic I become.  The counselor!  Maybe she can help tell me when and where my classes are, and how to find and open my locker.  If only I could remember how to get to her office….

I graduated from high school 25 years ago, but when I am stressed or anxious, my unconscious takes me right back there in my dreams.   That’s some powerful stuff, that is.

So I wonder what my kids, who’ve never set foot in a school or had finals or been subjected to the threat of not graduating, will dream about when they grow up and are anxious about something?

A psychiatrist somewhere said that it is not so much a reaction to stress per se, but a common dream reaction to “not being able to reach preset goals”. ????? I must not have goals anymore then, because I finally do not have these dreams. BUT, now I dream I am on a trip and can’t find my luggage, or clothes to pack, or I am going to miss my deadline (train, plane, car ride). And everyone is waiting. Hmmmm.
