Just a few words

Last night I got a long email from my friend Karen telling me about her daughters and also mentioning that she’d started listening to Amy Winehouse’s first CD, “Frank” again.  She wrote that she used to listen to it all the time with her daughter Katherine when they would drive into Manchester from their former home near Leeds.   This morning I answered and told her that because of her email I would go to iTunes and download “Frank”, which I didn’t yet own although Karen had mentioned in the past that she liked it even more than “Back to Black”.

A few short hours after hitting the ‘send’ button on that email, (and as promised, downloading “Frank”)  I read that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment.   And I wonder: Is there a sort of universal consciousness that can cause us to tap into the ripple of energy that death, or tragedy, or joy creates?    Karen and I have not been in communication much at all recently – and then we exchange long emails about Amy Winehouse’s music just hours before her death?  (or perhaps even as she was dying?)    Strange, don’t you think?

I hope in death she finds the peace she could not find in life.

On a much happier note, my sweet daughter made this music video this evening while Joshua and I were out.   I love it, and wanted to share it with you.
